About the center
DNRF and NNF Center of Excellence for Bacterial Stress Response and Persistence (BASP) opens May 1st 2015. It has been established with funds from the Danish National Research Foundation and the Novo Nordisk Foundation. Initially, the center will run until 2021, with the possibilities of 4 and 7 years extensions, respectively. This long-term funding enables us to attack difficult but important basic research questions.
The Center is affiliated with the Department of Biology and the Niels Bohr Institute, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen, Denmark and with Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University, Denmark.
The center brings together high-profile scientists within bacterial research, postdoctoral scientists, PhD-students as well as technical and administrative staff. The main objectives of the research are to understand molecular mechanisms underlying Bacterial Stress Responses and Antibiotic Multidrug Tolerance (Persistence).
